WE WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER

AN EVENT IN HONOR OF THE NINE

UMPQUA STRONG was created after the tragic events on October 1st, 2015 at UCC which left our community bereft of 9 beautiful souls. This small, tight knit community felt itself rocked to the core from the events of that day and we will never be the same again. We will always remember… Lucero, Treven, Rebecka, Quinn, Kim, Lucas, Jason, Lawrence, Sarena.

A COMMUNITY RESPONDS

In the hours, days, weeks and months following the shooting, our community rallied around families, survivors and each other. From overflowing lines to donate blood, serving and sending meals to first responders and hospital staff, rallying behind students returning to school, praying for strangers and neighbors, fundraising to raise thousands of dollars within days… the Umpqua Valley showed what incredible response love can have over evil and defined what it is to be #UmpquaStrong

#DETERMINATION

We lift up those survivors who endured, and continue to endure, both physical and emotional injury. They have lived through what would be anyone’s worst nightmare and we, as a community, will always hold them in our thoughts, our prayers and our hopes for a brighter tomorrow. They have shown us what strength and bravery truly looks like.

#UNITY

We honor those first responders who got the call that day- and continue to answer the call every day after. Despite what they have seen, they labor on serving our community with selfless hearts and courageous spirits. They are the glue that holds us all together. We cannot offer enough thanks to these heroes who silently save lives every. single. day.

#HOPE

We always remember, always think of, always hold onto…the memory of these 9 people. Because they were sons, daughters, wives, friends. They were a part of us. The world is a little less bright without their shining light. So we try to shine for them, though it will never be enough. We simply miss them. And always will.
